Berlin, 2024
summer house
For a citizen, there is a gradual transfer from public to private through a sequence of “steps”: district, street, building, common area, apartment, personal room. What can a personal room in a public space look like?
Me and Greta created a structure that allows us to appropriate a piece of Berlin and have a direct link between urban and personal scales. Installation of the textile element and the use of it became a performative action. We thought of how this action would be perceived by other participants of urban life. Somehow no one was bothered or provoked by our installation. And it felt very organic to stay within the room we created. It provided us with a shadow and a surface to enjoy the sun. This very personalized bubble made us feel more connected to Berlin.
